Thoughts about “giving” your raise away:
• Tell the sales team that you are doing it. This will put the emphasis back on doing a great job selling and less on them trying to become a sales manager because of the perception that a sales manager makes more money (often they don’t).
• Even if you don’t think you can recoup what is being given away it doesn’t really matter. The value of the gesture alone can be worth even more to you over time.
